Centennial Celebration

Students have consistently attended classes in the Mertzon Central School building for almost 100 years. Over the last century, many changes have been made to the school's stately structure, but its architectural integrity has been maintained. When ideas began to circulate about the construction of a new building, citizens were quickly reassured that the building would receive a much needed interior renovation, but would continue to stand and serve students from Irion County for generations to come. This is the story of Mertzon Central School, now Irion County High School – Celebrating 100 years!
